Create Azure SQL Database

Login to the Azure portal: https://portal.azure.com
Navigate to More Services from the left tile.

In the search input section, type SQL Database and choose the same.

Under SQL databases, click on +Add to create a new database.

Provide the Database name and choose the Subscription.

Choose the Resource Group from either Create new or Use existing. (For this scenario, choosing the resource group from the existing list)

For database source, choose Blank database. (There will be two other options; Sample Database and Backup. Based on the requirement, the options can be chosen)

To configure the SQL Server, expand the Server tab.

Choose to Create a new server and provide the details:

  • Server name                : <<Name of the SQL Server>>
  • Server admin login    : <<SQL Server admin username>>
  • Password                     : <<SQL Server admin password>>
  • Confirm password    : <<Confirm the password>>
  • Location                      : <<Location to be deployed>>

Note: The SQL Server name will act as an endpoint to the SQL database.
Choose Select.
Specify whether to use SQL Elastic Pool. (For this scenario, choosing NO).

Select the Pricing tier, to expand the options.

Choose Standard S1 and select Apply.

Leave the Collation to be the default.

Review all the options and click on Create.
Check the Notifications bar for the status.
